Why there is no social side
The decision that cut the most features, and the one we are most sure about.
Almost every product decision in ftns.ai is a trade. This one is not. There is no feed, no friends list, no ranked list of other people, and no way for anybody to see your twin, your numbers or your score. That is a locked decision, not a version-one gap we intend to quietly fill later.
It is worth explaining, because from the outside it looks like we removed the cheapest growth features in the category on purpose. We did.
What comparison does to a habit
The moment a habit has an audience, it stops being a habit and starts being a performance. Performances have good days and bad days, and the bad days are the ones you hide. Hiding a bad day means not logging it, and an app you only open when the week went well is an app that knows nothing about your actual month.
The most useful log in the app is the one from the week you would rather not have recorded.
A tracker earns its keep across the bad stretches. Anything that makes a bad stretch embarrassing is working directly against the thing the product is for.
What we removed
- No feed of any kind, public or between friends.
- No friends list, no follows, no audience count.
- No ranked lists, no leagues, no comparison of your numbers against anybody else's.
- No automatic posting. Nothing leaves your phone unless you send it yourself.
The one social-shaped thing that survived is the share card: one tap builds a designed stat block — your score ring, your strongest categories, your level, streak and tier — and hands it to the normal iOS share sheet. You choose the day, the app and the audience. On the days you do not feel like it, nothing happens at all.
What you compete with instead
Yourself, and only in the shape you chose. You set your own goal frequency, so a four-workout week is a perfect week if four is the number you signed up for. Tiers run Bronze to Diamond and are strictly personal — they are a record of your own consistency, never a position relative to somebody else. XP never decreases; you simply do not gain any on a day you do not act.
There is more on how that loop is built in streaks, without the guilt.
The side effect: privacy gets easy
A product with no social layer has almost nothing to store about you. No profile for other people to look at, no graph of who knows whom, no reason for your numbers to leave the device at all. That is why the privacy story is short enough to fit in a paragraph — see where your data lives.
