A lot of people do not want another dashboard. They want something that notices when they skip a day. That is the care loop: you look after a character, and looking after it is how you end up looking after yourself. We mapped that category in the 2026 care-loop map. DigiBuddy belongs on it, and until today we had not written the vs.

What is DigiBuddy?

DigiBuddy is a Health & Fitness game that turns your daily steps and exercise into care for a virtual pet. Your steps are their walks. Your workouts are their playtime. The digi reacts to real-world activity, you earn Happy Days when you hit the targets you set, and streaks of Happy Days level the pet up ([DigiBuddy on the App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/digibuddy-virtual-fitness-pet/id6740509102), fetched 21 August 2026).

The listing is explicit about tone: encouragement over pressure, every day a fresh start, reminders that stop once you have already hit the goal. Seller: John Smith. It lists iPhone and Apple Watch, and it says activity can sync from Apple Health or be logged by hand.

As of 21 August 2026 the US listing showed 4.9 stars from 14 ratings. That is a real number and a small sample. We are not going to treat it as a verdict.

How is DigiBuddy different from ftns.ai?

DigiBuddy looks after a pet with steps and exercise; ftns.ai looks after a full-colour, 3D-accurate twin of you with a whole week of inputs.

That is the whole split. DigiBuddy’s character is a digi — something outside you. Ours is you. When a pet droops, you feel like a slightly negligent owner. When your twin has had three flat weeks, you are looking at a consequence in your own shape. Neither feeling is better in the abstract. They are better for different people.

Which should I pick if I only care about steps?

Pick DigiBuddy. A step-and-exercise pet is the right tool for a step-and-exercise job.

If what you want is a creature that notices your walk and your workout, and you want the pressure turned down, their own copy is built for that. Fresh start. Encouragement over pressure. Happy Days, not a grade.
